E.J.'s Story
Meet an incredible young superhero named Enrique Rodriguez Jr. "EJ". He was born in 2016, and from the very beginning, he showed us what true bravery looks like. He embarked on a life journey that would shape not only his own resilience but also the lives of countless others. At the tender age of 4, destiny took an unexpected turn when EJ was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL), which is a blood cancer that causes abnormal white blood cells to grow in the bone marrow and move into the bloodstream. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is the most common form of leukemia found in children, accounting for about 30 percent of all pediatric cancer.

Facing a battle that would test the strength of even the bravest souls, EJ took on the challenge with unwavering determination. Enduring the harsh realities of chemotherapy at such a young age required an immense amount of courage, strength, and an unyielding spirit. His resilience shone even brighter as he navigated the delicate balance between medical treatments and the innocent joys of Kindergarten. He faced his treatments with a smile and never stopped believing in himself.
The challenges didn't stop there. The world was plunged into the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding an unprecedented layer of complexity to EJ's journey. The fortitude that had carried him through his health struggles now guided him through the uncharted territory of isolation, remote learning, and the uncertainty that came with the pandemic.
On January 23rd, 2021, a triumphant moment marked the achievement of remission – a symbol of victory over adversity and a testament to the strength of EJ's spirit. The last page of this chapter turned on December 31, 2022, as EJ completed his arduous treatment plan, emerging not just a survivor, but a beacon of hope for others facing their own battles.

Harnessing his experience and newfound lease on life, EJ and his family embarked on a mission to make a lasting impact on the lives of pediatric cancer patients. Thus, the EJS Kids Foundation was born. With a heart brimming with empathy, EJ and his family established this non-profit organization, dedicated to enhancing the lives of young warriors undergoing medical treatments. The foundation's mission is to provide not only medical support but also love, community, and empowerment to these brave souls and their families.
